This project began under the name Rod & Forge Railings, created for a custom railing fabrication company specializing in high-end architectural metalwork. The original logo was inspired by the letter "R," creatively shaped into a complex helical staircase that reflected the fabricator’s craftsmanship and artistic precision.
As the business evolved, the brand was renamed Boulder Railings to better represent its local roots and establish a stronger connection to the community. The updated design drew inspiration from Boulder’s iconic Flatirons, cleverly integrating their silhouette into the shape of a stair handrail — a subtle yet effective nod to the company’s craft and setting.
To maintain visual continuity between the old and new identity, the same typeface was used, with slight modifications to better complement the refined design. This approach helped preserve brand recognition while allowing the new logo to feel fresh, relevant, and more aligned with the Boulder aesthetic. The color palette was chosen to mirror the official colors of the City of Boulder, giving the brand an immediate sense of place and familiarity for local clients. This rebrand helped position Boulder Railings as both a skilled fabricator and a proud part of the local community.
